I've been upgrading my freelance kit for the past few months now. I recently tried the Ben Nye Beige Suede and Banana Powders on myself and I loved them so I decided to order some for my kit. I ordered 3 light shades and 3 darker shades. There are additional shades available but I settled on these 6 and I think I'll be able to cover any client with these shades.
Ben Nye Luxury Powder
Shades Purchased: Cameo, Buff, Banana, Beige Suede, Nutmeg, Dark Cocoa
Price: $7.99-$8.50 USD for 1.5oz
Available at CameraReadyCosmetics
Now I mostly use these powders to set concealer underneath the eyes and on super oily clients to set their t-zone and/or face depending on how oily the person is. I absolutely love these powders and they will continue to be a staple makeup product both in my personal and professional collections.
Let me know if you have any questions about these powders and I will be more than happy to answer them for you.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy New Year!

I have the banana powder and use it to set my undereye concealer also, but now I want to try nutmeg. Thanks for sharing these swatches!
No problem! I usually use Beige Suede to set my concealer but I've tried Banana too and like it!
I want nutmeg and dark cocoa. Get the lighter shades for my kit
Did you get these when camera ready had their sale?
@kim Nope I just hauled them when I was going through my kit upgrade!
hi! what shades do you think would go well with an nc50-55 skin tone?
Probably Dark Cocoa used very lightly
Hi, I'm use mac's c40 and I was wondering what tone would suit me best? And can I use this as an all over face powder?
You coukd most likely get away with either Beige Suede or Nutmeg. They are really sheer so yes, you can use them allover the face, but they are really matte.
Hi im NW35 what would be the perfect shade for my t-zone other than banana for undereyes? thanks!! :)
Hi what would you recommend for NC40 skin love?? i want to try em!!
Hi, I am a NW40 in MAC and I was wondering what shade you would recommend me using as an all-over face setting powder? I was tihnking; Beigie Suede, Topaz or Nutmeg. Thankyou :)
For NW35 skin I would try the beige suede. Same fore NC40. For NW40, I would say Nutmeg or Beige Suede. I'm NW43 and I can get away with Beige Suede used lightly. It's all about how you use the product and what you use it for. The powders are very sheer which is why I can get away with using banana to set my under eye concealer, even though I'm darker
Would you please recommend one for me? For reference I'm around a NC 15 with very strong yellow undertones, I would like to try the banana powder but I'm afraid that it would be too dark for my skin...
Thanks!
I'm a NW 47 & NW 45. WHat coloue would you recommend to set my concaler and as an all over face powder? Thanks!!!
@Lebasigp23 It's hard for me to be certain as I haven't seen your skin in person but all of the Powders are very sheer and can be applied lightly. I think banana may work for you but I can't be sure.
@Corrine I would use beige suede to set your concealer and maybe Nutmeg for the face. I have never used.
Keep in mind that I only use these powders to set concealer so it's hard for me to gauge how it may look on your face without seeing you in person.
Thanks!
I love all the shades of ben nye foundation, they all looked natural.
I wear mac NW55. What colors do you think will work for me? I really want to try this brand but afraid that I will select the wrong color & look ashy lol

hi, im an nc30. do you think its gonna be too yellow if i use banana powder to set my whole face? if not, which shade would you recommend for me to set my foundation?
thank you!!
@Folashade I would recommend Dark Cocoa. It will not look ashy! However, I personally wouldn't set my entire face with this powder as it is very matte.
@Kartikakasih I think it may be too yellow but it also depends on what foundation you are wearing under it. If the foundation already leans yellow, then it may be too much. You may want to try a different shade.
Hi, I'm NC15/20! What color would you recommend to set my whole face and the concealer?? It can be 2 different colors ... Thank you :)
I'm Hispanic and my skin color is between light and and olive tone. What do you recommend?
@Luciana I've been using Buff to set the concealer on my lighter clients. I rarely use any of the powders all over the face, however, you can try a light dusting of Buff.
@Anonymous What are you using the powder for?
To set my concealer.
Banana Powder or Buff if you are really light.
Hi.. I use MAC nc 50 or dark translucent blot powder for my -zone, which is very oily. Would u recommend the dark cocoa? I like something very natural, but with a little coverage. Would I use this to set what I am currently using or can I use it alone?
Hi, many thanks for this swatches! my skin is quite oily and none of the powders makes it matte for a few hours (i do not expect matte finish to last all day). I thought about Ben Nye as heard so many good things about it.I use MAC foundation, I mix NW20 with NW25 so it matches my skintone more. what shade of Ben Nye would you reccomend for face and which would be the best for setting the concealer under eyes? thank you :)
For NC50, you can wear dark cocoa but it has very minimal coverage. It is also very matte so it would be perfect for the t-zone. Also keep in mind that the powders offer very little color so another color may also work for you. I am NW43 and I have dusted Beige Suede all over my face before and it was fine in terms of color.
For NW20/NW25 I rarely use any of the powders all over the face, however, you can try a light dusting of Buff. To set concealer, Cameo and Buff would work.
hi, i use Nars sheer glow foundation in shade Macao and also sometimes Armani Luminous in shade 10. what shade Ben Nye powder do you think would be right for me. I've only seen the Banana shade. y friend who is a little lighter than me uses it to highlight. i think that is too yellow for me.
I just ordered some of these from camera ready... My banana was feeling lonely (my excuse) I really needed them for my kit though.
I'm a little obsessed with them!
Hello, sorry Im a bit late with this lol But I am Hispanic and light to medium skin tone. I use MAC foundation in NC25-30. Which powder do u think will work best to set my under eye concealer nd highlight?
MizzMandylion Banana would work but it has a very yellow tone to it. Also, the powders are very sheer so many would probably work on you.
i wonder if u can use this alone for everyday use? :)
@Tin G, They are really sheer so it wouldn't offer much coverage but would take away shine.
Hi , Amazing post! I am so new to this and I am an NW45 what shade/brand of concealer would you recommend( I was told I had to go 2 shades lighter) and what Ben Nye shade will you recommend ? For setting foundation? Thanks
Thanks! I like the NW40 studio finish concealer by MAC. If you want a really bright under eye highlight go with Banana but for every day highlighting, I would use Beige Suede.
hi,
I use Nw50 foundation, pls wat concealer will u recommend for under eye highlight nd babana powder.my face is a bit dry.
Thk u
I am N5 in mac what do u think I should use..im fair
Hello! I am nc25 in mac studio fix plus powder. What shade can I use as a substitute? Thank you!
Hi,
I am NC35-40, I bought most of the Ben nye powders. However, I found the Banana to look very yellow on my under eye ! I don't know why every one at my skin tone finds it fine ! I bought the pretty pink one to try for under eye. I do have dark circle which I get rid of them with the balm concealer in light/med . Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Very good post thanks for the swatches. I am hispanic light/medium tone what ben nye powder shade would you recommend for an all over powder. Thank U
Anabelle
If banana is too yellow and you are of darker complexion, try Beige Suede. If you are of a pale complexion, try Cameo or Buff.
